DISABLED VETERAN LEAVE – START DATE OF USAGE PERIOD

Definition: Start (beginning) date of 12-month eligibility period during which disabled veteran leave under 5 U.S.C. 6329 and 5 CFR part 630, subpart M, may be used. The start date is the “first day of employment” as defined in 5 CFR 630.1303. The entry of a start date in this field represents agency certification that the employee in question is entitled under law and regulation to use disabled veteran leave during the 12-month period beginning on that date.

Notes: This start date is not deleted after the expiration of the 12-month period, or after loss of eligibility during that 12-month period, but is retained permanently to document receipt of one-time crediting of disabled veteran leave.)
