COURT ORDERS FOR FEGLI PURPOSES INDICATOR

Definition: Indicates whether an employee has a court order for FEGLI purposes per 5 CFR 870.801 on file. Court order means any court decree of divorce, annulment, or legal separation, or the terms of any court order or court-approved property settlement agreement relating to any court decree of divorce, annulment, or legal separation, the terms of which require FEGLI benefits to be paid to a specific person or persons.

Notes: This indicator will be populated prospectively, not historically so agencies do not need to go through OPFs to populate this field. This field will be populated once the existence of a court order becomes known, either through the introduction of a new court order or the processing of a retirement.
